Tentang Kota Tangerang

Tangerang Raya saat ini terbagi menjadi 3 (tiga) daerah otonom, yaitu Kabupaten Tangerang, Kota Tangerang dan Kota Tangerang Selatan. Jika pada postingan sebelumnya kita membahas tentang Kabupaten Tangerang maka kali ini kita akan membahas tentang anaknya yaitu Kota Tangerang, untuk anaknya yang lain yaitu Kota Tangerang Selatan akan dibahas pada kali berikutnya.

Letak Kota Tangerang ini sangat strategis karena berada di antara Ibukota Negara DKI Jakarta dan Kabupaten Tangerang, disamping itu Kota Tangerang merupakan salah satu daerah penyangga Ibukota Negara DKI Jakarta. Posisi Kota Tangerang yang menguntungkan tersebut menjadikan pertumbuhannya sangat pesat. Pada satu sisi wilayah Kota Tangerang menjadi daerah yang mendapatkan dampak postif dari berbagai kegiatan pembangunan di Ibukota Negara DKI Jakarta. Di sisi lain Kota Tangerang dapat menjadi daerah penerima pengembangan wilayah Kabupaten Tangerang sebagai daerah dengan sumber daya alam yang produktif.

Pesatnya pertumbuhan Kota Tangerang dipercepat pula dengan keberadaan Bandara Internasional Soekarno-Hatta yang secara administrasi termasuk ke dalam wilayah administrasi Kota Tangerang. Gerbang perhubungan udara Indonesia tersebut telah membuka peluang bagi pengembangan kegiatan perdagangan dan jasa secara luas di Kota Tangerang. Kota Tangerang adalah pintu gerbang utama Indonesia. Hal itu karena keberadaan Bandara Internasional Soekarno Hatta yang berada di wilayah Kota Tangerang.

Sejarah Kota Tangerang

Untuk awal mula muncul nama Tangerang bisa di lihat di artikel tentang Kabupaten Tangerang. Secara historis tentang penamaan Tangerang tentunya sama saja dengan Kabupaten Tangerang sebagai induk dari Kota Tangerang. Kota Tangerang dibentuk berdasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 2 Tahun 1993 tentang Pembentukan Kota Tangerang. Sebelumnya Kota Tangerang merupakan bagian dari wilayah Kabupaten Tangerang dengan status wilayah Kota Administratif Tangerang berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 50 Tahun 1981. Dampak dari pembentukan Kota Tangerang menjadikan Kota Tangerang sekarang menjadi konsentrasi wilayah pemukiman penduduk dan menjadi tempat kegiatan perdagangan terutama pada sektor industri. Perkembangan sektor perdagangan dan industri di kawasan ini memancing derasnya arus urbanisasi penduduk. Lonjakan jumlah penduduk juga disebabkan karena kedudukan dan peranan Kota Tangerang sebagai daerah penyangga DKI Jakarta, karena Kota Tangerang termasuk dalam konsep Kota Metropolitan Jakarta yang terkenal dengan sebutan Jabodetabek.

Letak Geografis Kota Tangerang

Kota Tangerang secara keseluruhan merupakan daerah dataran rendah. Letak Kota Tangerang Secara geografis pada posisi 6°10′41,9″ Lintang Utara dan 106°37′54,8″ Bujur Timur. Kota Tangerang juga dilalui oleh Sungai Cisadane mulai dari selatan yaitu Kelurahan Panunggangan, Kecamatan Pinang sampai ke utara di Kelurahan Selapajang Jaya, Kecamatan Neglasari, Kota Tangerang. Sebelah Utara berbatasan dengan Kecamatan Teluk Naga dan Kecamatan Sepatan Kabupaten Tangerang, sebelah Selatan berbatasan dengan Kecamatan Curug, Kecamatan Serpong dengan DKI Jakarta, sedangkan sebelah Barat berbatasan dengan Kecamatan Cikupa Kabupaten Tangerang.

Batas wilayah timur : Jakarta Barat, dan Jakarta Selatan.
